What does it cost to move into a $699 studio?
In this example, moving into a 2nd floor studio at $699 costs $1,249 on day one without a pet. That adds the $500 starting deposit, the $50 application fee and one month of rent. Treat it as an example. Prices change daily, and fees are estimates.
We built it from numbers Centro Studio Homes publishes. We added nothing we could not point to. Where a number is not published, we say so.
This is an example, not a quote. Your deposit may be higher than $500. Rent may differ by unit and by day. Check current pricing on the floor plans page and ask the office for a written quote.
What fees go into a worked example?
Five published numbers drive the math. Centro lists studio deposits that start at $500 and a $50 application fee that is non-refundable. For pets, it lists a $150 deposit, a $250 one-time fee and $25 monthly rent per pet.
| Item | Published amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly rent, 2nd floor studio | $699 (low end of the range) | The 2nd floor range was $699 to $1,099 on 2026-11-02 |
| Security deposit | Starts at $500 | Your amount may be higher |
| Application fee | $50 | Non-refundable |
| Administrative fee | Amount not published | Returned if you are denied |
| Pet deposit | $150 per pet | Up to 2 pets |
| Pet fee | $250 one time per pet | Up to 2 pets |
| Pet rent | $25 per month per pet | Added to monthly rent |

How much is move-in with no pet?
With no pet, the example comes to $1,249. That is $500 for the deposit, $50 for the application and $699 for the first month of rent. Your monthly bill after that is $699 before any special or pet charge.
- Deposit, starting amount: $500
- Application fee: $50
- First month’s rent at the low end of the range: $699
Total: $1,249.
We left out the administrative fee because the amount is not published. Ask the office what it is for your unit.
How much is move-in with one pet?
With one pet, the example comes to $1,674. The pet adds a $150 deposit, a $250 one-time fee and $25 in pet rent for the first month. That is $425 more than the no-pet example.
| Line | No pet | One pet |
|---|---|---|
| Security deposit (starting) | $500 | $500 |
| Application fee | $50 | $50 |
| Pet deposit | $0 | $150 |
| Pet fee, one time | $0 | $250 |
| First month’s rent | $699 | $699 |
| First month’s pet rent | $0 | $25 |
| Example total | $1,249 | $1,674 |
| Monthly bill after move-in | $699 | $724 |
Centro allows up to 2 pets. The pet numbers apply per pet in the published policy, so a second pet would add the same $425 in the first month. Breed restrictions apply, and there is no weight limit. Our pet cost breakdown shows a full first year.
What does a “weeks free” offer change?
Centro advertises up to 8 weeks free on select floor plans, and offers vary by floor plan. The example above does not subtract any free weeks. We cannot say how a special applies to your unit, so the office should confirm it in writing.
A special changes your monthly average, not your deposits and fees. Read how weeks free work and how to compare offers in our guide to move-in specials.
How do I get my real number?
Ask for a written quote for the exact unit. Centro honors quotes for 2 business days, and units can be held up to 14 days. Use this short list when you ask:
- Which unit and which rent?
- What deposit will I pay?
- What is the administrative fee?
- What is due at move-in, and when?
- Which special applies, if any?
The move-in costs guide walks through each line. For a wider look at monthly costs, see apartment rentals in Austin.
Fees are estimates and actual amounts may vary. Pricing and availability are subject to change.
What mistakes do renters make when they budget for move-in?
Most renters count the deposit and the first month, then forget the rest. A short list of common gaps helps you plan.
- Using the “starting at” rent. The $699 price is the low end. Your unit may cost more.
- Forgetting the application fee. It is $50 and non-refundable, so it is gone even if you change your mind.
- Skipping pet charges. One pet adds $400 up front and $25 a month.
- Leaving out the cost of moving. Truck, boxes, internet setup and a few days of groceries add up. Centro lists a cable and internet package as a community amenity, but we do not publish its price.
- Not asking about the first partial month. If you move in mid-month, rent for that month may be pro-rated. Read about pro-rated rent.
A cash cushion helps. Add a few hundred dollars on top of the quote for the things no one lists.
How should I read this example next to my own budget?
Use it as a template, not a price. Copy the table into a note, replace each number with the figure in your written quote, and add your own moving costs. If the total for the first month looks high, compare it with the monthly bill after move-in. The monthly bill is what you carry for the whole lease.
Also compare more than one unit. Rent at Centro runs from $699 to $1,099 on the 2nd floor and $729 to $1,114 on the 1st floor as listed on 2026-11-02. A higher rent raises only the rent line in this example. The deposit and fee lines stay close, so the gap between units is mostly monthly.
