“Weeks free” is a type of move-in special. The property does not charge rent for a set number of weeks. It may apply the credit as one block, or spread it out. Ask how the property applies it.
Here is the math on a $699 studio, as an illustration:
- Yearly rent: $699 x 12 = $8,388.
- Weekly rent: $8,388 / 52 = about $161.
- Value of 8 weeks free: 8 x $161 = about $1,290.
So 8 weeks free is worth about $1,290 on a 12-month term at $699. Your monthly bill does not drop. You get the credit once.
Watch for two things. First, the free weeks may not cover fees, utilities or other charges. Second, you still owe the deposit and the application fee up front.
