## Does Centro Studio Homes allow pets?

Yes. Centro Studio Homes allows up to 2 pets per home, and it publishes no weight limit. Breed restrictions do apply. Each pet carries a $150 deposit, a $250 one-time fee and $25 in monthly rent. The community also has a dog park.

That is the whole policy as Centro publishes it. We kept this page short on guesses and long on numbers, because a pet owner needs the real total before touring. Centro is an Austin community of 306 studios at 824 Camino La Costa in the Highland neighborhood. Every home is a studio, so the homes are one room with a kitchen and a bathroom. See the [floor plans](https://centro.multisites.ai/floorplans) for the current layouts and prices.

## What do pets cost at Centro each month and at move-in?

A pet costs $400 at move-in and $25 a month for one pet. That is a $150 pet deposit plus a $250 one-time fee, then $25 of monthly pet rent. Two pets double every number. The table below shows both cases.

**Pet charges due at move-in**

**$800**

Monthly pet rent ($25 per pet)

Here is how those numbers sit on top of rent. Centro lists homes starting at $699. With one pet, the monthly rent on a $699 home would be $724. With two pets, it would be $749. These are plain additions, not a quote. Your actual rent depends on the home you pick, and prices change daily, so check current pricing. Fees are estimates and actual amounts may vary. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

You can read each charge in the glossary: [pet deposit](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/pet-deposit), [pet fee](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/pet-fee) and [pet rent](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/pet-rent). For the full move-in picture, including the regular [security deposit](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/security-deposit), see the [deposits page](https://centro.multisites.ai/deposits). Studio deposits start at $500. The application fee is $50 and is not refundable. The administrative fee is returned if you are denied.

## Is there a weight limit for dogs at Centro?

No. Centro publishes “No weight limit.” A large dog is not turned away because of its size alone. The catch is the next line of the policy: breed restrictions do apply. Weight and breed are two separate checks.

If your dog is large, think about the studio itself, not the policy. A studio is one main room. A big dog and a bed, a couch and a desk share that space. That is a real-life question for a tour, not a rule. Walk the home on your tour and picture your dog in it. We cover moving day and daily routines in the [guide to moving with a pet into a studio](https://centro.multisites.ai/guides/moving-with-a-pet-into-a-studio).

## What does “breed restrictions apply” mean in practice?

It means the community does not accept certain dog breeds, or dogs of mixed breed that include them. Centro does not post the list on its website. The leasing office has it. The safest move is to ask before you apply, so you do not pay a $50 application fee that is not refundable.

Here is a simple way to handle it.

1. Write down your pet’s breed. If your dog is a mix, write down what you know, such as a vet record or a DNA test result.
2. Call the leasing office at (737) 317-8369 and ask whether that breed is on the restricted list.
3. Ask what proof the office wants for the pet, such as vaccine records.
4. Ask whether the restriction applies to mixed breeds.
5. Get the answer in writing, by email or message, before you start an application.

The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. It is closed on Sunday.

## What pet amenities does Centro have?

Centro lists a dog park among its community amenities. That is the only pet-specific amenity the community publishes. We do not describe the park’s size, fencing or hours because Centro has not published them.

Other published amenities help any daily routine with a pet. Centro lists a courtyard with a grill and chill area, a BBQ and picnic area, bike storage and a 24-hour laundry facility. Browse the full [amenities page](https://centro.multisites.ai/amenities) or see the [community overview](https://centro.multisites.ai/apartment-complex-in-austin-tx). To see the dog park yourself, book an in-person tour or a live video tour on the [tour page](https://centro.multisites.ai/scheduletour).

## What are Austin’s basic pet rules?

Austin sets its own pet rules on top of anything a community adds. Three that matter to a renter: dogs may not be tethered unless the owner is present, Texas law requires rabies vaccination, and the city offers free microchips to residents. We link every point to an official page so you can read it.

**Tethering.** Austin Animal Services says: “Tethering dogs within the city limits of Austin is prohibited by city ordinance unless the owner is physically present with the dog.” On the same page, the city lists its leash law and its anti-tethering rule among the ordinances Animal Protection enforces. Read the leash law in the [City of Austin code](https://library.municode.com/tx/austin/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=TIT3ANRE_CH3-4REDOCA_ART1GERE_S3-4-1UNDOPR) before you move.

**Rabies shots.** The city’s page says: “Texas State Law requires that pets be vaccinated against rabies.” Keep your pet’s vaccine record handy. The leasing office may ask for it, and you will want it for any vet visit.

**Microchips.** The city says it “offers free microchips for dogs and cats belonging to residents of Austin and unincorporated Travis County.” A microchip is the easiest way to get a lost pet home.

## How do I bring a pet into a studio apartment without surprises?

Plan the costs, check the breed, then test the space on a tour. Most surprises come from skipping one of those three steps. Use this checklist before you apply.

1. **Add up the total.** Use the table above. One pet is $400 at move-in and $25 a month.
2. **Check the breed first.** Call the office. Do not pay an application fee until you know.
3. **Ask for the written policy.** Request it by email so you have the exact words.
4. **Tour with your pet in mind.** Look at the floor, the kitchen and the door. Ask where the dog park is.
5. **Find the right home price.** Compare floor plans, then add pet rent. See the [floor plans](https://centro.multisites.ai/floorplans).
6. **Ask about holds.** A rent quote is honored for 2 business days, and a unit can be held up to 14 days. Read about a [rent quote](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/rent-quote) and a [unit hold](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/unit-hold).

## What does a pet friendly studio cost compared with a studio without a pet?

A pet adds $25 a month per pet and $400 at move-in for the first pet. On a $699 home, that raises the monthly cost by about 3.6 percent. It is a small share of rent, so a pet should not drive your choice of home.

## Next step

Call the leasing office at (737) 317-8369 with your pet’s breed, then [book a tour](https://centro.multisites.ai/scheduletour) in person or by live video. Ask for the restricted breed list, see the dog park, and get the pet policy in writing.

## Questions renters ask

Does Centro Studio Homes allow pets?

Yes. Centro allows up to 2 pets per home and publishes no weight limit. Breed restrictions do apply. Each pet carries a $150 deposit, a $250 one-time fee and $25 in monthly pet rent. Call the leasing office at (737) 317-8369 to confirm your pet is allowed.

How much does it cost to bring a dog or cat to Centro?

For one pet, move-in pet costs are $150 for the deposit plus $250 for the one-time fee, which is $400. Then you add $25 to your monthly rent. For two pets, double each number: $800 at move-in and $50 a month.

Is there a weight limit for dogs at Centro?

No. Centro publishes no weight limit. Breed restrictions do apply, though, so size does not decide approval by itself. Ask the leasing office whether your dog's breed is on the restricted list before you pay an application fee.

What does breed restrictions apply mean?

It means some dog breeds, or mixes that look like them, are not accepted. Centro does not publish the list on its site. Ask the leasing office for it. The office can tell you before you apply, so you do not lose the $50 application fee.

Are the pet deposit and fees refundable?

Centro publishes the deposit as a $150 pet deposit and the fee as a $250 one-time fee. The published policy does not say which amounts are refundable. Ask the leasing office to confirm refund terms in writing before you sign.

Does Centro have a dog park?

Yes. Centro lists a dog park among its community amenities. The office can tell you where it is and what the rules are. You can also see it on a tour, in person or by live video.

Does Austin require pets to be vaccinated?

Yes. The City of Austin's Animal Services page states that Texas State Law requires that pets be vaccinated against rabies. The city also offers free microchips to dogs and cats that belong to Austin and Travis County residents.
