# Unit hold

A unit hold reserves a specific home for you while you finish the application steps. Centro holds units up to 14 days.

A unit hold takes a specific home off the market for a set time. It gives you room to finish your application and plan your move without losing the home.

Holds have rules. Many properties ask for a deposit to start the hold. The deposit may be refundable or not, depending on the terms. Get the terms in writing.

Do not confuse a hold with a rent quote. A [rent quote](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/rent-quote) is the price. A hold keeps the home. Centro Studio Homes honors a quote for 2 business days, and it holds a unit for up to 14 days.

Questions to ask the office:

1. What do I pay to start the hold?
2. Is that amount refundable if I change my mind or am denied?
3. What is the last day I can sign?
4. What happens on day 15?

Centro’s studio deposits start at $500. Fees are estimates and actual amounts may vary.

See move-in costs on [the deposits page](https://centro.multisites.ai/deposits).
