## How much does a pet cost in the first year at Centro?

One pet costs $700 in the first year at Centro: a $150 deposit, a $250 one-time fee, and $25 a month in pet rent for 12 months ($300). Two pets cost $1,400. This counts Centro’s published pet charges only.

These numbers come from Centro’s published pet policy. Fees are estimates, and actual amounts may vary. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

## What are the pet charges, line by line?

Centro lists three charges per pet. A [pet deposit](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/pet-deposit) of $150, a [pet fee](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/pet-fee) of $250 that you pay once, and [pet rent](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/pet-rent) of $25 each month. Centro allows up to 2 pets.

## What does that do to my monthly bill?

One pet adds $25 to your monthly rent, and two pets add $50. On a $699 studio, that is $724 with one pet and $749 with two. The $699 figure is the low end of the 2nd floor range as listed on 2026-11-02.

## What else should I ask about?

The published numbers do not cover everything. Ask the office about these before you sign:

1. How and when the pet deposit is returned
2. Which breeds are restricted
3. Whether the charges apply to every animal type
4. What proof you need, such as vaccine records

The policy lists no weight limit. It also says breed restrictions do apply. Do not assume your pet is fine. Ask first.

## What does a studio mean for a pet?

A studio is one main room, so your pet shares the whole space with you. Plan a bed spot, a food spot and a clear path to the door. Our [zoning ideas for a studio](https://centro.multisites.ai/blog/how-to-zone-a-studio) show how to mark space for each.

Centro lists a dog park on site. Read the full [pet friendly studio apartments in Austin](https://centro.multisites.ai/pet-friendly-studio-apartments-austin) page and the guide to [moving with a pet into a studio](https://centro.multisites.ai/guides/moving-with-a-pet-into-a-studio).

## How do pet costs fit into move-in costs?

Pet charges add to the deposit and fees you already pay. With one pet, move-in is $425 higher in the first month: $400 in deposit and fee, plus $25 pet rent. See the full [move-in cost example](https://centro.multisites.ai/blog/move-in-cost-worked-example) for the numbers side by side.

## What is the cost for a month, not just a year?

Over a full year, the $150 deposit and $250 fee are a one-time hit, and pet rent spreads out. For one pet, the up-front part is $400 and the monthly part is $25. Think about it in two buckets: cash at move-in and a small monthly add-on.

If your lease runs longer than a year, pet rent keeps going at $25 per pet per month. Lease lengths are not published here, so ask the office. See [lease term](https://centro.multisites.ai/glossary/lease-term) for the basics.

## How do I plan for the costs the policy does not cover?

Centro’s pet charges are only part of the cost of a pet. The rest depends on your animal. Food, vet visits, supplies, grooming and sitters are yours to budget, and they are not part of any apartment policy.

A simple way to plan: list your pet’s monthly costs, add the $25 pet rent, and add it to your rent. Then check the total against your budget.

## What helps a pet settle into a studio?

A studio has one main room, so routines help. Keep food and water in one spot, put a bed in a quiet corner, and walk your dog before you leave. Centro’s on-site dog park gives dogs a place to run. Bring your pet on a tour if the office allows it, and ask first.

## What should I bring to the pet conversation?

Come ready with facts about your pet. The office can answer faster when you do. Bring the breed, the age and the number of animals. If you have vaccine records or a vet letter, bring those too, though the office decides what it needs.

Write down your questions before you call. Good ones are: Is my breed on the restricted list? How is the pet deposit handled at move-out? Do the charges change if I get a second pet later? Does the $25 pet rent change over time? Ask for each answer in writing.

## Next step

Tell the office about your pet before you apply. [Book a tour](https://centro.multisites.ai/scheduletour) or call (737) 317-8369, and ask about breed rules in writing.
